This week's assignment started out kind of intimidating... I wasn't sure what to do since sunlight's been a distant memory (I think the sun today was just my imagination)! Because of this, I decided to try to take advantage of shadows and light on a smaller scale. I wanted to capture more

than just shadow for some of these shots; I wanted color. Therefore, I decided to photograph transparent objects to get a color shadow. I was really happy

with the results. Then, I snapped an interesting shot of one of my deck chairs and played with the image in Picasa. Of course when my husband heard I had to do a "shadows and light" project combined with our trip to Monster Mania horror movie convention this weekend, he wanted me to take some scary night time shadowy shots of him! Just for fun, I've included one of those here too! Enjoy!
I love, love, love the deck shot....love the "just for fun" knife shadow shot. The fun that goes on in your house never ceases to amaze me.
ReplyDeleteSo- how are you getting these shadow shots of things around the house? Are you using a flash? What settings are you using?
no flash...you would laugh if you saw the whole rig i set up for the small scale stuff...I actually used a banana holder and put the items on invisible thread (which wasn't so invisible...had to do a TON of retouching to remove that and it's shadow)...covered a table in white paper and got up on the pics from an angle with no sun and shot...
ReplyDeletethen the night time shots i did by keeping my shutter open for a while...there are a ton of settings on my camera that I'm just figuring out!
And yes, I can only imagine what all the people coming out of the baseball field across the street thought of me taking pics of a machete wielding man on my deck!!!
love the chair.
ReplyDeletethe guy is scary.
the bottle looks like a perfume advertisement!!
you have an imaginative husband!
ReplyDeleteThe deck shot is absolutely the strongest of the bunch. Nice going.
That was an ambitious thing to do with the tabletop setup!
There is a new Friday the 13th movie coming out soon...maybe you could submit that bottom picture for their movie trailer...it's scary enough..lol! Your other photos are creative as well. Nice stuff.
