I wanted to do something unique in a "downtown" environment for our assignment this week so I decided to visit both an urban setting and a suburb. But rather than just photograph a random building, I drove around until just the right ones jumped out at me. In the suburbs, I was struck by the shapes made by the Branford Library building. Because the building is a very light color, it lent itself to conversion to black and white quite nicely. If you go to my fotothing account, you can see one shot I left in color because the contrast between the building, sky and leaves of a small tree worked very well together. This black and white photo is my favorite though! This weekend I also had a chance to visit my old
home town of Bridgeport, CT and remembered that the Barnum Museum had phenomenal architecture so I decided to check it out! Unfortunately fotothing only allows for 10 uploads per day because I could have uploaded quite a few more, but this one photo is among my favorite because it shows a kind of architectural progression from old design to modern and how each of those shapes are just so different. Please check out my fotothing page to see more! The building is a photographer's dream with the intricate details and unique shape it has!
I also decided to include a close up on one of the decorations adorning the front doorway cornice. Please check out my fotothing page and add me to your friend list too! My page is www.fotothing.com/jackiejanosko.
UPDATE: So last night I decided to run out and try to get a picture of the new fountain in the center of my town. The photos of the fountain look great, but the background was so busy between street lights and businesses that I needed to crop most of it out! Enjoy this extra image...
these are all so beautiful
