Unfortunately, I didn't have much control over lighting for my photos.
We toured Europe in 14 days so I didn't have the luxury of planning the time of day (or weather of course). I appreciate these aspects of photography so much more now that I have been at their mercy.
The first photo was taken from a gondola in Venice. I found the windows to draw my attention throughout the trip.
Below, the same set of pillars gave me different opportunities. I was able to fill the frame with repetition, which is one of my favorite techniques and take a close up photo to show two of the pillars as a powerful object.
The steps of our villa caught the evening light and struck me.
