profile portraits of my mother and dog

These are the portaits that I took. They were the two people that I knew and loved and thought would not make a fuss. One of them was much more easier to take photos of however.

Nevada

These are some shots from the Hoover Dam. There was great scenary and many photo ops here.

These boats in the canals of Venice caught the light off the water so nicely.

Windows of Verona Italy

The windows ranged from decrepid to delightful. I found both to be great subjects for photographs.

The colors of Italy are so vivid!!

Eiffel Tower

By changing these photos to B/W and Sepia, I was able to camouflage some ugly green netting that surrounded the middle of the monument.

Repetition

I keep finding myself looking for repetition and progressing in ways to catch it in the best way. I believe I could have stood out away from the wrought iron fence at the Louvre in Paris to capture the bottom picture more dramatically. The top was taken of belts at an outdoor market in Florence.

Functional to Extraordinary

The window above in the Baptistery at Pisa offered a dramatic sliver of light. The huge transparent clock at the Musee' D'Orsay in Paris provided a view of Paris from within the museum.

It was so easy to find subjects to photograph in Italy. Color and light made these come alive.

Unfortunately, I didn't have much control over lighting for my photos.
We toured Europe in 14 days so I didn't have the luxury of planning the time of day (or weather of course). I appreciate these aspects of photography so much more now that I have been at their mercy.

The first photo was taken from a gondola in Venice. I found the windows to draw my attention throughout the trip.

Below, the same set of pillars gave me different opportunities. I was able to fill the frame with repetition, which is one of my favorite techniques and take a close up photo to show two of the pillars as a powerful object.

The steps of our villa caught the evening light and struck me.

Week 7

I really enjoyed doing the assignment this week. Making pictures and working with the surrealism was a lot of fun and really different to what I am used to. I tried my best to be creative and had a lot of fun with it.

Week #7 Desert Jar

Keeping simply can be a good thing. The technical knowledge behind this is quite detailed. The object is to capture attention and curiosity.

Week 7

This was definitely a fun assignment that let your creativity run free (for the most part)....Here are two that I have done and a few more on fotothing. Will upload a few more before the weekend is over.

I enjoyed this web site. I wish they had more options. It was hard to choose my favorite. I like the way this had a mythical feal to it.
